Quick Q&A: Will We Know Each Other In Heaven?

Dr. David R. ReaganPDFBy Dr. David R. Reagan

Yes, definitely.

We are told that we will have glorified bodies like the one that Jesus had after His resurrection (Philippians 3:21). Once the disciples got over the shock of His resurrection, they easily recognized Jesus whenever He appeared to them (John 21:1-7). In like manner, the disciples recognized Moses and Elijah when they appeared at the transfiguration of Jesus (Matthew 17:1-5).

We do not become non-entities at death. We retain our individuality and personality. God constantly refers to Himself as "the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob" long after their deaths. His fellowship with them is obviously continuing in Heaven (Luke 20:37-38).

Dr. Reagan, no need really for comment as I am in agreement with your brief devotional. Buuuut, I have been thinking lately of my mother who went home late 2007 - and other loved ones who are no longer here. It is a wonderful, encouraging thought from God's Word that I will finally be able to see one of my children, a son, who died in-utero (?sp) along with others. And I have no doubt the absolute joy of the reunions with loved ones, while dull in comparison to being with God, will leave us laughing and dancing and talking until the wee hours of eternity. How sad some view Heaven as a dull place filled with nameless harp strumming angels that resemble robots more than persons created in the image of a Living God. No wonder they fear death and cling so hard to this earth and its attractions. Personally, I find it exciting to think that with the personality, individuality I now possess (without the sinful nature of course) I will see my Lord, my Savior and my God. I will be able to rejoice in what I have longed for on this side of Heaven. And God goes even further by allowing us to know one another and begin a fellowship with loved ones that can never again be interrupted by death.

God bless you I needed this reminder,
Rob from Alabama

Rob,

I couldn't agree with you more. The more you know of the true nature of Heaven, the more you want to be there.

That's why I want the Rapture to happen NOW! Today! The ULTIMATE would be getting to go right to Heaven without having to die.

I'm with you guys! And, I really got excited about heaven, after I read Randy Alcorn's book "Heaven". Dr. Reagan recommended this book and I am soooo glad I bought it and read it.
