The Ministry of Angels: Testimony

Dr. David R. ReaganPDFBy Dr. David R. Reagan

Lamb & Lion Ministries had four founders back in 1980. One supplied the faith; another, the leadership; a third, the money. The fourth was the one to whom God gave the vision for the ministry — a man named Dudley Head.

Dudley is one of the godliest men I have ever known. Ever since I met him in the 1970's, he has had an intimate relationship with the Lord, producing many special spiritual experiences in his life.

For example, I remember the day he called me excitedly to tell me about something that had happened to him in his backyard. "I was meditating on the Lord," he said, "when I sensed His presence. I quietly said, 'Lord, please manifest your presence to me in some special way.'"

Dudley said the words were hardly out of his mouth when a Monarch butterfly suddenly appeared, circled him a few times, and then landed in the open palm of his right hand. "We just sat there and stared at each other for a long time," Dudley said.

In 1963 Dudley was serving as the lay preacher of a small church in South Dakota, and he desperately needed encouragement. One day he got a telephone call from a stranger.

"Do you believe in helping people?" the man asked.

"Yes, I do," answered Dudley.

"Even if they are Jewish?"

"Yes," Dudley responded.

The man then explained that he was a Jew who was stranded in the town and needed help. He said he was at a gas station on the main highway that passed through the town.

Dudley drove over and picked him up. He was a young man in his early 30's. He said he had been hitchhiking from California.

Dudley took him home, and his wife fixed dinner for him. After dinner, Dudley asked the man if he would like to go to his church's Wednesday evening Bible study. The man agreed.

They were studying the Old Testament, something none of the members of the church were familiar with, including Dudley. As they began their study that evening, the Jewish stranger soon took over and began to explain the meaning of the Scriptures. Dudley was amazed, enlightened, and encouraged.

Dudley found a place for the man to stay that night and paid for his lodging. The next morning, he had disappeared without a trace.

To this day Dudley believes the man was an angel sent by God to encourage him and to get him interested in the prophecies contained in the Hebrew Scriptures. And ever since that strange experience more than 40 years ago, Dudley has emphasized Hebrews 13:2 to everyone: "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it."

Yes, the Bible teaches the reality of angels, and it teaches that they sometimes take on human form in order to minister to those who are in the process of being saved (Hebrews 1:14).

What are angels? Where did they come from? What is their purpose? Do they have a ministry today? How do they relate to the end times? Find out in the following segments of this series on the ministry of angels!

I think this blog should be renamed the "Excerpts Cut and Pasted From Lamb & Lion Magazines, Articles, Videos and Books Blog".

It aint what it used to be I'm sad to say.

Billy you've eaten everything in the house and are now asking for even more. Such a voracious appetite for the Word of God is to be commended!

I'm sorry that our two cooks cannot produce enough to feed you. I recommend supplementing your L&L diet with the additional delicacies of other cooks.

Dawg,

I've read this story before. It was in one of Dr. Reagan's books (I think it was book - maybe another media). Thanks for the suggestions! That helps.

Libby,

Good for you! Ignore me. Nathan's right. I've been eating at the same restaurant for too long and have gone thru the menu several times.

Nathan,

Don't think I can't read between the lines...you've had it with me and are telling me "GET LOST!" in a clever way. ;)

Well, guess what...I KNEW what you were going to say while I was thinking about what I had posted. And I was telling myself the exact same thing (only more direct than you put it).

I am going to take your advice and seek out new sites to feast upon IN ADDITION to this one. Hah! You're not getting rid of me that easily! Oh, come now, don't frown.

Billy, this place wouldn't be the same without you, Man!

My Grandfather and Grandmother lived alone in their home in Kingsport, TN and one day a middle aged man came near the house. My Grandfather invited him in for supper and conversation. The man spoke very little only answering in nodding of his head. My Grandfather was a devout Christian and loved to discuss the Bible with strangers. This man seemed to enjoy it very much and smiled often. After the wonderful meal provided by my Grandmother, the man commented that it was time for him to leave. As the man stepped out of the front door, my Grandfather replied for him to wait but a moment as my Grandmother prepared a meal to go. As my Grandfather stepped out the door with meal in hand he noticed the man was not to be found. The house was situated along a dead end with only one way to exit. It was at that time that my Grandfather recalled the exact same verse provided in this article.

I have been following and downloading from YouTube; Curtis Corinth “Jeff Jenkins teaches koine Greek”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbAT2UachRs

His US pronunciation tweaks my ears a bit; but as I am familiar with the UK English accent through doing J.H Dobson’s N.T. Greek, it doesn’t bother me.

It is for total newbies, but these videos are helping me to get a better grip on how the grammar works. The only problem is the text, but I am managing to follow with the Greek books I already have - so far. (Where there is a will, there is a way)

Please don't think this will be 'dry'; it does take a bit of discipline, but it is thrilling to discover the true depth of meaning in the original languages. NOT essential, but certainly icing on the cake.

Have a go Billy, it's a gastronomic feast of delights. Yum. :)

Nathan, I have been encouraged by this article.

When I was about twelve, a stranger called at the door, my parents could see his shape through the frosted glass as he talked to me.

Long-short, he confirmed to me that spiritism was indeed of the devil (one of my nan’s was into it, and I had had several nasty frights). I said goodbye and closed the door. My parents immediately told me to ask him in for a cuppa, re-opening the door; there was no sign of him. It was a long path, no bushes and the area in front of the house was a wide, open space. I ran up and down looking for him, but in what was seconds he had vanished.

I asked friends and neighbours if this tall, elderly man with white hair had called at anyone else’s home, but no-one else had seen him. I had no-one to teach me, and he came to put me right with Jesus (I led my parents).
Praise The Lord!
MARANATHA!

I have had three experiences with angels = two where I have heard them and saved myself from nasty car accidents and this las one just days ago.

I was very upset over my daughter who had run into a bit of trouble and was sitting at my desk talking to God. I was crying hard with tears pouring down as I recalled Jesus on the cross and his agony that he went through. As I was crying almost hysterically, I felf a hand on my shoulder and a voice told me to calm. I was in the house alone! I was instantly calm. Totally relaxed. I KNOW there are angels. I KNOW God! He is my best friend.

I forgot to mention, within an hour we found my daughters problems lessened considerably and she came home! Maranatha!

Hartdawg, those names were pretty much all Brannon presented, and pointed the audience to go to his book for the remaining of the 21. I'd be happy to blog the other presentations (if it doesn't upset Billy ;).

Great accounts! My parents a few years back were in a terrible car accident. My father dragged himself out of the wreck and collapsed in a ditch. A harley wheel revved up beside his head and a biker mended him until the ambulance arrived. The EMT could not recall a biker ever being there. Proves angels ride Harleys!

Oh, angels will "lay hands." Several years ago (before I became a believer) I used God's name in an improper way (I'm ashamed to say) and got knocked upside the head. It was weird.
