What other realities exist alongside our own that until recently we didn't know about?
We asked this question on our television show Christ in Prophecy of Carl Gallups, senior pastor of Hickory Hammock Baptist Church in Milton, Florida, and the author of the best-selling apologetics book, The Magic Man in the Sky. He is also the founder of the world famous PPSIMMONS YouTube channel and prominent Freedom Friday radio talk show host.
Dr. Reagan: I love your Fish Pond Story from the previous segment. The moment I read it I thought equivalent to that is the fact that we as Christians know that there is a reality around us that cannot normally be perceived with the senses. It's the reality of the supernatural, of demons, of angels, and of God intervening in history. You can't normally perceive it, but in the Bible we are told from time to time even angels can take on bodily form, and we may entertain angels unaware.
Then I got to thinking further and I wondered if there was a situation where human beings have lived together with another reality and not even have know about it. It suddenly occurred to me the germ theory of disease was not even discovered until the mid-1800's. There was a whole micro-biological world that has always existed around us and in us that we knew nothing about.
Carl Gallups: That's a perfect example of coexisting realities.
Also, there's the whole field of quantum science and quantum mechanics. I wrote a little bit about that reality in my book as well, because it so illustrates the point of multiple realities so well. There are realities that exist all around us that we cannot see. No one has ever seen a quantum particle with their eye. We see the effects, and we can measure it through various electronic means, so we know it's there.
Back to the Fish Pond Story, let's say a man puts on a scuba suit and enters into their world. A fish can say, "Now I know what a man is." But, really they don't know. They've seen a man in a way that could exist in their realm all covered in scuba gear, but they really still know nothing about humanity. In the same way, God put on flesh. God with us in the person of Jesus Christ is man seeing God in the flesh, but we still have no concept of the total reality of who God is. The Word of God says some things about the nature of God, but when we're with Him, we will then truly know Him as He is when we see Him face to face. Does that make sense?
In other words, God put on a "scuba diving suit" — came in the flesh — into our world so we could get a feel for Him. But, His ultimate glory we have yet to see until we are out of the fish pond and with Him in the ultimate reality.
Dr. Reagan: On page 207 of your book, you even talk about how Science has to admit that it has proved that there are realities that can exist side-by-side and be unaware of each other.
Carl Gallups: That's right. Even Science has to admit that, yes.
I was thinking specifically again of the microbial world and then the world of quantum mechanics and quantum theory, that we benefit from our understanding of quantum mechanics with everything from lasers to MRI technology to nuclear technology. And yet, there is still so much about it that we don't know, and so much about it that we can't see and haven't seen and still theorize about. Even science has to admit that there is a world of reality that is beyond our comprehension or explanation, and beyond our ability to see, and yet it exists and we know it exists.
In the fifth segment of our interview with Pastor Carl Gallups concerning the existence of God, he'll describe how Atheists or Agnostics respond to evidences of God's existence.
