Hitler's Nightmare: Part 2 of 5

Dr. David R. ReaganPDFBy

The question posed was: "Could Nazi Germany happen here in America?"

The Needed Spark

All that is needed is a spark to set off a new civil war that will lead to the suspension of civil liberties and the institution of martial law.

I believe that spark will most likely be an overwhelming economic collapse — one far more severe than the one we experienced in 2008. I believe that because, as I said before, the dollar has become our god, and the true God of this universe is a jealous God who delights in destroying false gods.

That economic collapse will most likely be triggered by a major terrorist attack, possibly involving nuclear weapons. Just imagine the national chaos that would occur if a nuclear device were to be detonated by a suicide crew on a merchant ship in New York harbor. It could easily happen.

Hitler in Crowd

The Bible makes it clear that God never pours out His wrath on a nation without warning. He will send both remedial judgments and prophetic voices to call the nation to repentance before He will deliver it to destruction.

God is doing that in America today. He responded to our Sexual Revolution in the 1960s with the Vietnam War that ended up plaguing the soul of our nation. He has sent natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina, man-made disasters like the 9/11 attacks, and economic calamities like the stock market crash of 2008.

Prophetic Voices

God has also sent the prophetic voices calling the nation to repentance and warning of impending judgments. The first major voice to be anointed was that of Dave Wilkerson, who told in the 1970s about his vision of New York City burning.

In recent years the prophetic voices have been greatly multiplied and magnified because we as a nation have dug in our heels and refused to repent.

In previous issues of the Lamplighter magazine we have focused on two of the prophetic voices God has anointed to call us to our senses — Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn (May-June 2013) and Baptist Pastor Robert Jeffress (November-December 2013). You can find both of these issues on our website.

In the third part of this series on Hitler's Nightmare, I'll share what Erwin Lutzer believes is the problem that makes the United States ripe for a dictator.

America is a nation with many religions unlike Israel that for the most part is like unto their biblical Israel under the God of Abraham. So how would America repent? We are not the nation that God has called his own under his covenant.

This nation was founded on Judeo-Christian values and American principles. No nation created and run by men can possibly hope to live up to those values and principles on a consistant basis. Therefore it is true the nation is guilty of many sins.

But our nation has it's momments of greatness as well. We fought a bloody Civil War to end slavery. We fought against the evils of Nazism and Communism. We have supported and defended Israel. We have historically given support and aid to more people and nations than any other nation. And we have been a strongly religious nation that has always strived to live up to our Judeo-Christian values and American principles. I think America has done as well as any man-made man-created nation could possibly do. Better than any other in the history of man.

However, what is different today than at any other time in our nation's history is that those who believe in and attempt to live up to Judeo-Christian values and American principles are no longer the majority.

The majority of Americans today along with a vast number of aliens illegally occupying our country no longer hold these values and prinples to heart.

The values and princples the majority now holds to are determined by the "cultural religious", the non-religious, leftist political ideology, the love of a "global community", the entitlement mentality, etc. Above all, they don't fear God, they fear belief in God.

We, the minority, who hold Judeo-Christian values and American principles share in the blame however. We let this overthrow of America occur. We became cowards in the face of political correctness. We lacked the courage to fight. And now it is too late. In our defense however, these time were destined to happen and I doubt we could have changed the outcome.

The United States is now completely unrecognizable. I truly feel I live in a different nation that the one I grew up in. And because of this my only hope is escape. Thank the Lord for knowing we Christians would need knowledge of the Rapture in order to cope and survive day to day as the only bit of encouragement in a world of "hell on Earth".

Line correction in comment above:

I think America has done as well as any man-made man-RUN nation could possibly do.

Excellent commentary Billy. You are 100% correct. The answers to how can American return to its roots probably, unfortunately, lies in the tribulation. As said here on L&L many will come to the Lord during that time. So maybe as a nation there will be a repentance ,as in the time of Jonah.
